Our clients, a professional couple with two young children, had just purchased a newly built townhouse in Palma. The lower ground floor was a construction site with an excavation for a swimming pool surrounded by stark concrete walls and no planting space.

The brief was to create a Mediterranean garden oasis with lots of green and pastel coloured planting softening the walls and providing privacy.

We divided the compact space into distinct zones introducing raised planting beds to add height and structure. A custom-built bench along the pool offered seating and hidden storage for toys and equipment. Evergreen climbers, including fragrant star jasmine, and evergreen ivy brought year-round greenery, while a tall Arechastrum palm tree added drama and screened unwanted views.

To bring warmth and character, one concrete wall was redesigned in natural stone and discreet lighting was added to highlight the plants at night.

The result is a tranquil, family-friendly garden oasis: functional, private and evergreen.
